Vidya Balan ends Bollywood’s wedding season

Vidya Balan has quietly said her ‘I Do’s’ at a suburban Mumbai temple in true Tamil style. She will the third Mrs Siddharth Roy Kapur who is a UTV head honcho. What was so refreshingly different was the lack of filminess at the nuptials with only very close family and friends in attendance. The only celebrity to attend any of the wedding functions was Rekha at the sangeet ceremony.

Not one to do things like the rest, Vidya Balan or female Khan as she is popularly called did it her way even when she tied the knot. A stark comparison indeed to Saif and Kareena’s OTT rituals which according to them was a low key affair. Hmm wonder what a fully filmi band, bajaa, baarat means to them! Vidya Balan’s wedding amrks the end of wedding season in Bollywood. That is unless somebody decides to elope on New Year’s Eve. The strongest contenders for that are Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra. In fact noone would blink an eyelid if the two were to announce their marriage. The media has been writing them off as a married couple for years now. Wonder when Rani and Aditya will finally come out in the open.

John Abraham and Priya Runchal his latest squeeze were reportedly married in a secret ceremony. That of course was poo-poohed by him. Curiously enough a few years back there were pretty loud rumours doing the rounds that Vidya and John had hooked up while shooting for Salaam- e – Ishq. Hmmm small world indeed huh Bollywood?

Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza walked down the aisle too supposedly in a hurry given Ritesh’s dad’s ill health at the time. So Vidya Balan tops the wedding season with a subtle flourish. Wonder what 2013 has planned for relationships in Bollywood.
