He’s fat, plump, chubby, yet can give all handsome hunks on television screen a run for their money. TV actor Ram Kapoor who is currently basking in the glory of his most popular show ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ is possibly one of the veterans on small screen now, for most of his contemporaries are not seen doing any lead roles in daily soaps. Interestingly, Ram is not only enjoying mainstream fame and popularity but also has become a ‘brand’ in its own and continues to climb up the ladder of success.
But going by what gossipmongers are saying, Ram Kapoor is soon to make an exit from the daily soap. Yeah, I was equally shocked and upset to read this for I have almost become habitual of watching his atypical antics on ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ while portraying the character of a super rich business tycoon. But why is the actor par excellence walking out? Certainly, his weight issues can’t be the reason, as it just added value to his on screen role and fitted the script requirement. Then why the actor is giving such a shocker to his fans and viewers?
Well, I think it’s because of the sudden bombardment of Bollywood offers that came his way and maybe the actor loved his silver stint so much so that he thought it’s better to do big screen roles rather than becoming a household name doing TV shows. For those who missed, Ram Kapoor made cameo appearance in recent films like Udaan, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Agent Vinod and Student of the Year and will soon be seen in Yash Raj Films’ Mere Dad Ki Maruti as well as in Asha Bhosle’s first acting project Maaee. Besides this, Ram has portrayed the character of a lawyer a hard-hitting Nagesh Kukunoor film titled Lakshmi and then there is ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’, followed by Santa Banta. WOW! Ram Kapoor’s kitty is full with an action-packed line up of films. Not bad “Fatty”!
I wonder if Ram would like to give some credit to close friend Ekta Kapoor because it’s only after he made a television comeback in ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ that the actor has started to get some attention from filmmakers too. Then even if it’s a blink-and-miss appearance, it’s not an issue as long as the film does well at the Box Office. Good luck Ram, keep up the good work but be considerate towards your small screen fans too.
