Certainly Priyanka Chopra has some special quality that makes her an obvious choice every time a director decides to make a remake of an old Bollywood film. Having done films like ‘Don’ and ‘Agneepath’ with top stars Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka is now busy shooting for yet another remake ‘Zanjeer’. Surprisingly all the three films starred Amitabh Bachchan when they were first made. But what is about Priyanka Chopra that attracts director to cast her in the remake versions?
Of course, it can’t be just her fondness for the remakes of Amitabh Bachchan films. There’s more to it, because it’s not as easy as it may sound to be part of a film that has been made earlier and to portray a character that someone else has played before. I bet it requires more groundwork and efforts for an actress to be able to do a role that has already been historic in its own sense. And Priyanka Chopra seems to be equipped with traits such as these, which makes her any director’s favourite choice while planning a remake film.
Also, with the kind of consistent versatility Priyanka Chopra has shown in her on screen roles, it doesn’t really leave much scope for any further doubts. Having acted in films such as ‘Fashion’, ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ and ‘Barfi’, her extreme perfection and further potential to act is tough to be brought under the scanner. Though I’m not sure if while doing a remake film, Priyanka puts as much originality as in her other projects but whatever she does comes across to be the best. And then whether the film is a blockbuster or bombs at the Box Office, doesn’t really count for Priyanka.
Nonetheless, it is filmmaker-turned-actor Farhan Akhtar who is sounding quite concerned about friend Priyanka Chopra and even warned her about getting typecast by doing too many remakes. His tweet read: “Priyanka Chopra, do you realise that this is the third official remake of Amitabh Bachchan you are in? Be careful you don’t get typecast.” Well, I don’t think Priyanka need to nurture any such fears of getting stereotyped. As long as she’s doing good work; it shouldn’t really matter if the film is a remake or an original script. Clearly even if the films manage to get good response from movie lovers for a fact that they happen to be remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer, I don’t see any harm in that. Priyanka Chopra gets her due anyways. Keep up the good work PC.
