Just when the biggest Box Office clash between ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ and Son of Sardaar’ was nearing its end, a fresh new conflict has come to fore. Apparently, Aamir Khan’s ‘Talaash’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khiladi 786’ will be releasing around the same time, hence marking the onset of another big Box Office clash. After SOS and JTHJ, Aamir and Akshay’s upcoming films are touted to be the next big releases that movie lovers are looking forward to. I wonder if this news brought any sigh of relief to Shahrukh Khan or Ajay Devgn, as the two just went through a similar situation.
Talking of Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar, it looks like both the actors stand an equal chance to outdo each other. Though for Akshay, it sounds simpler because having been a part of three successive Box Office success stories this year including Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore and OMG, chances are high that he remains the crown puller with ‘Khiladi 786’ as well. At the same time, let’s not sound foolish and not count the goodwill that came Aamir Khan’s way through his debut TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. One simply can’t overlook the hype that was created for a period of three months when the show was on air and how it took the nation by storm. With someone like Aamir Khan in the picture, the response ought to be such. I am sure not only TV viewers went crazy over the issues Aamir touched upon his TV show, but even his contemporaries in the film fraternity would have understood that it’s not a cakewalk to be a perfectionist like him.
But is this enough to decide the fate of Aamir Khan’s first year in this year? Does the hype created around his debut TV show actually give him an edge over Akshay Kumar when the time comes for their Box Office face off? You never know! Mind you, Aamir might believe in keeping a low profile, not attending any award shows or much of press conferences, yet the noise that his movies make and the promotional campaign he indulges in can give top stars a run for their money.
On top of it, I feel the fact that Aamir will be seen playing a full fledged lead role in ‘Talaash’ after a gap of 3 long years is big enough to bring him all the attention. It’s going to be a close call – may the best man win!
