Ah, there you go! Shahrukh Khan starrer and Yash Chopra’s last directorial film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ has collected over Rs. 120 crore worldwide within six days of its release. Making it even better is the fact that JTHJ left behind Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Son of Sardaar’ that also was released on the same day, as SOS is still far behind from touching that mark.
I’m sure the news flash on media channels would have shut everyone’s mouth who was trying hard to write off Shahurkh Khan or calling ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ to be a black spot on Yash Chopra’s five decade long career. Love it or loathe it, but you can’t ignore King Khan’s strong screen presence. And it won’t be wrong to say that JTHJ earned its due primarily because of King Khan and his on-screen charm that’s tough to resist.
While people belonging to SRK’s hate-club may choose not to read further, it’s high time they come to terms with what trade pundits, critics and fans nationwide have said – Shahrukh is no than a living legend and till the time he is in Bollywood, he will continue doing films and roles that his fans love to watch. If you still wish you crib and say inappropriate things just to please your ego – it’s completely your choice.
Talking of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, the film showed SRK romancing girls half his age and it was touted to be his comeback as a romantic hero, a typical poster boy that Yash Raj Films is known to present on screen. I would say, if that has helped the movie do some serious business at the Box Office and enter the 100-crore club, what’s the harm? Let’s not be mean and say biased things just for the sake of saying it. If Box Office success combined with audiences’ response decide the fate of a film – ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ is an out and out super hit in both scenarios. I bet wherever Yash Ji is right now, he would be smiling to see his movie faring well and the fact how people who have zilch sense of cinema are pointing fingers at his work.
