It’s been 20 years since the Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya. The demolition of the Babri Masjid was not an isolated event! It was the beginning of a long build-up process. Nothing has changed regarding the status of the site. Neither a mandir was made nor masjid. People are still waiting for the court’s verdict. Politics is still being played in the name of Babri mosque/Ram Janam bhoomi but the reality is that both the communities be it Hindu or Muslim want PEACE!! No Mandir no Masjid.
People don’t realise the fact that the demolition was the end result of a prolonged action. Rather the real reason or motive behind this demolition is stronger than the act of demolition itself. Had there not been sustained efforts by our leaders at building a communal distances things would have been different today. They had lit the fire through hate speeches & muslim bashing,. So an explosion of emotions was obvious. Communal riots followed the incident which claimed more than 2000 lives.. What a shame!
If punishment is due, it should be for the leaders (politicians) for provocation & creating destructive environment. Advani and other key players behind this whole issue, owe an explanation to the country and its people. Mr Advani has for all the practical purposes forgotten about the so called ‘great cause’ he statrted so passionately in 1990-91. Now his party pays only lip service to it…. So was this demolition and destruction worth it? Were they aiming only at political profits out of it? In short, 20 years down the line, the damage has not been undone. People who played major role in this demolition process are still leading in politics. L K Advani, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi and many others started the entire campaign for bringing down MAsjid and building a Ram temple there.
But we will continue to live like this… remembering or paying tribute to such incidents & people who lost their lives and then would sit and curse the leaders. But who will put the full stop to all this???
It seems India’s progress is haunted by Masjid’s destruction.
